Transneft Central Siberia Sponsors Branded Classrooms at Tomsk Region Schools

Ceremonial opening of natural sciences training and laboratory facilities took place at schools No. 4 and 5 of the city of Strezhevoy in Tomsk Region on 3 September 2018. Transneft Central Siberia gave financed the upgrading of the educational institutions’ facilities.

The classrooms were repaired and outfitted with up-to-date natural science training equipment under a targeted charitable programme of Transneft and the corporate school education development charitable programme for 2017-2019.

Water supply, heating and power supply systems were overhauled, floors, windows and doors were replaced, and LED lamps were installed in classrooms of Secondary General School No. 4 and No. 5.

Apart from that, the Company purchased up-to-date multimedia equipment and digital physics and chemistry laboratories. The interactive laboratory facilities will be applied to check students’ theoretical and practical knowledge as well as for scientific, project and extracurricular activities.

New furniture was purchased, and laboratory tables for scientific tests were installed in physics, chemistry and mathematics classrooms. The chemistry classrooms received demo exhaust hoods that met all requirements of educational standards.

“To train highly skilled staff we need to raise the competitiveness of rural schools’ graduates, give them opportunities for using their potential by bringing them to the same starting as students from city schools. The partnership between the Company and the educational institutions will mark another stage in shaping Transneft’s talent pool. By implementing this programme, we are preparing worthy successors for employees of operational facilities,” Andrey Polchanov, Head of Strezhevoy RPD, said at the ceremonial opening of the upgraded classrooms.

Transneft started implementing the corporate school education development charitable programme in 2017. Last year, Transneft Central Siberia invested RUB 11.6 million in the programme, this figure has amounted to RUB 14 million in 2018. Within the scope of the programme, the year of 2019 will see repairs and installation of up-to-date training laboratory facilities at 8 more schools in Tomsk region. The total amount of the Company’s investments for 2019 is more than RUB 53 million.
