The team of Transneft Central Siberia has taken part in the 4th athletic garbage collection championship held in Tomsk Region.
17 teams representing industrial enterprises, educational institutions and public establishments of Tomsk and Asinovsky and Bakcharsky districts participated in cleaning the Lagerny Garden in Tomsk.
The teams had 1 hour to collect and sort garbage. A total of 1 tonne of waste was collected.
Such events bring the problem of environmental pollution to the public’s attention and offer the staff of industrial enterprises an opportunity to contribute to keeping the city’s parks, garden squares and forests tidy. Participation in such events is an important part of environmental policy for Transneft and its subsidiaries, including Transneft Central Siberia.
"Events like this one are a good example of the development of volunteering. By making a positive contribution to the city, we help the team as well. For example, newly hired employees get a chance to blend in during such an event, to connect with their colleagues and to tap into the traditions of the Company", said Sergei Dubovoi, the team's captain and an engineer at the Environmental Safety and Rational Nature Management Section of Transneft Central Siberi
The first athletic garbage collection championship was held in Tomsk on 8 June 2016 as part of an environmental week. 11 teams participated in the championship and collected over 1.5 tonnes of waste within one hour. The event was arranged and held by Tomsk Region’s department of natural resources and environmental protection and the Regional Committee for Environmental Protection and Nature (Oblkompriroda) together with the Japan Federation of Athletic Garbage Collection. In 2016, the team of Transneft Central Siberia was awarded a special prize for careful sorting of waste.
