Transneft Central Siberia Introduces Themed Online Game for Students

Transneft Central Siberia, together with the Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU), has launched the Magistral online educational game (“the Trunk Pipeline”).

The project is an online system for early occupational guidance which is based on the technology of simulation games. The goal is to promote natural sciences and engineering education. With the game, students from different settlements of Russia will be able to study natural sciences online. The project is designed for high-school students.

Specialists of Transneft Central Siberia, together with creators of the educational platform, designed the Magistral educational game. While playing the game, students can understand the basic physics of oil transportation processes and equipment, build and manage an oil trunk pipeline. The company allocated charitable funding for the development of the programme. The game can be found at the following link — https://il.tpu.ru/game.

“It is very important to develop the interest of students in such subjects as physics, chemistry, computer science and mathematics. The platform will be a good opportunity for children to plunge deeper into the world of science with great enthusiasm,” said Yevgeny Khokhryakov, Head of the Technical Section of Transneft Central Siberia.

Transneft Central Siberia actively cooperates with educational institutions of Tomsk Region. In 2017-2019, the School Education Development Charity Programme of Transneft was implemented in the region to improve the quality of training children in exact sciences in small towns and villages. Modern classrooms for physics, chemistry and mathematics lessons were provided in 13 schools of the region. In total, more than RUB 79 million were allocated to implement the programme.

In addition, Transneft Central Siberia cooperates with TPU in the field of training specialists, organising educational and practical internships for students and facilitating participation of young scientists in scientific and technical conferences. Over the past three years, the company has allocated over RUB 17 million for the development of the university’s infrastructure and the purchase of new educational equipment.
